So, I’ve always been a freak perfectionist about my hair color. Growing up in the Texas suburbs meant MANY-AN-UNSUCCESSFUL-TRIP to various hair salons in search of a blonde hair guru to give me exactly what I was looking for.
Blonde is breezy, bright and buoyant, but it’s not one-size-fits-all. The beauty aisle shelves are stocked with dozens of blonde tones for a reason: blonde comes in flavors from bright platinum shades to subtle honey hues, and each of these shades flatters some skin tones better than others.

For hair above level 6 and for the root area, use 20 Vol developer. For dark hair 5 and below on the lengths, use 30 Vol developer. Make a mix of 1 part lightener to 2 parts developer and apply on all dark areas.
You may think that it is “strawberry blonde” or “auburn” but to others it is ginger and a hair color gone wrong. Look for ash blonde colors. These can look a little dull though. In this case, it may be worth opting for a mix of high and low lights to brighten your hair and get a blonde look.
With skin that’s somewhere between light and dark, you’ve got room to play with your blonde! Ashy blonde will create too much contrast, but anything in the range from wheat to sand to honey will look beautiful and even beachy if you want! … with cool undertones. A cool skin tone calls that perfect beach-bleached look for your hair.
